Director Project Finance Infrastructure & Energy

Our client is one of the most rapidly growing Corporate Banks in Western Europe currently looking to hire and experienced Director to join their Project Finance Infrastructure & Energy team in Frankfurt.


  • Managing a team to deliver on mandates while being involved in business development and origination activities. The team is focused on four closely-related service offerings:
  • Helping clients determine various transaction scenarios (PPP, JV, outsource, long-term contracts) to best deliver value and service
  • Financing Advisory : evaluating financing needs, structures and sources or directly assisting in the raising of capital
  • Procurement Advisory : assisting clients in developing and evaluating options related to long-term performance-based contacts. These contracts can run into multiple billion dollar commitments
  • Project Risk Advisory : assisting clients understand and quantify the various risks associated with a large project, icluding market, construction, procurement, labour, and currency

As Director you will: 

  • Manage clients proactively, making origination the main priority and culture of the practice;
  • Continue to build and develop a high-quality team;
  • Position the team in the marketplace and develop the business;
  • Work collaboratively with other competencies and lines of service as well as with other offices across Germany and on Pan-European level in business development and project execution.


  • To be able to realize this growth in revenue and staffing, the client an individual who meets a very specific profile. This individual must have and/or be able to demonstrate:
  • Master’s degree with proven analytical, diagnostic, and transaction skills;
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in infrastructure finance and investment in the public and private sectors. This includes experience in investment and advisory on major projects in the transportation and energy sectors as well as leading on business planning and financial strategy;
  • Significant experience in finance raising and commercial negotiations on projects requiring very large amounts of funds from sources including government bodies, financial institutions and development banks;
  • A history of project finance transactions with the demonstrated ability to close deals in at least three of the following sectors: transportation, healthcare, accommodation, power and municipal infrastructure;
  • Proven experience developing terms of reference, identifying example projects and writing final reports;
  • Experience negotiating the terms of new financing structures;
  • Experience building valuations models, performing detailed due diligence on portfolio assets and leading team presentations;
  • Experience working on bid teams or for the public sector on public-private partnerships;
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills demonstrated with experiences managing individual and multidisciplinary teams on complex major projects from the beginning to the end of the transaction;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills demonstrated in working with senior stakeholders in government, financial institutions and the private sector;
  • The ability to drive business development including through competitive proposals;
  • The drive and interest to meet the demands of a growing and evolving market and manage multiple priorities;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and German.
