Big Data Architect

Our client, a well-known Italian financial company is looking for a Big Data Architect to join their team in Milan.


  • Work as part of the global Data Processing Technology team to identify business needs and opportunities and create and maintain functional, technical and enterprise architectures, and support the development of such architectures with technology expertise
  • Make recommendations on integration strategies, platforms and application infrastructure required to successfully implement a complete solution or transform an existing solution.
  • Take responsibility for leading functional and technical projects, including such activities as requirements analysis, functional and technical design, technology research and evaluation, technology advocacy, proof-of-concept work, and resource coordination
  • Prepare and deliver architecture and technology briefings, including slide presentations and white papers
  • Collaborate with architects, software engineers and business specialists
  • Work across the company to drive adoption of technical standards, design principles and architecture methodologies
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers


  • Degree in Computer Science or in a related technical field, preferably with focus on data engineering, data analytics, machine learning or artificial intelligence
  • 3-5 years of relevant working experience, preferably as a member of a professional services, architecture or systems engineering team
  • Experience with Big Data technologies, excellent understanding of Big Data technology stacks and architectures
  • Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem and related technologies
  • Proficiency with object-oriented and scripting languages
  • Experience with developing data warehouse, batch, real-time event processing and ETL workflow architectures, which could include implementing and optimization of scalable and distributed systems
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities and a passion for problem solving
  • Ability to quickly learn, understand, and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the data processing space
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical concepts, executive presentations and whitepapers
  • Very good business acumen
